Northwestern University

On May 31, 1850, 9 men gathered to start designing a university that will serve the Northwest Territory.

Given that that they had very little cash, no land and restricted educational activity expertise, their vision was bold. however through a mixture of inventive finance, shrewd politicking, non secular inspiration associate degreed an abundance of diligence, the founders of Northwestern University were ready to create that dream a reality.

In 1853, the founders purchased a 379-acre tract of land on the shore of lake twelve miles north of Chicago. They established a field and developed the land close to it, naming the encompassing city Evanston in honor of 1 of the University's founders, John Evans. when finishing its 1st building in 1855, Northwestern began categories that fall with 2 school members and ten students.

Twenty-one presidents have presided over Northwestern within the years since. The University has fully grown to incorporate twelve colleges and schools, with further campuses in Chicago and El Beda, Qatar.
